Glasgow Support Service
The GCIL support team provides a wide range of services for disabled people who receive a self-directed support budget.
Working closely with social work partners, the advisors guide disabled people through the initial stages of receiving a direct payment, including understanding their responsibilities as employers, setting up insurance, and more.
They also provide ongoing support and advice for recruiting and managing personal assistance staff.
Additionally, the team collaborates with our payroll department to ensure packages run smoothly and helps resolve any issues that may arise.
Employerability services
GCIL employment services are designed by disabled people, for disabled people.
Since our founding we have helped hundreds of disabled people find good, meaningful work. We do this with a variety of methods such as training programmes, supported paid work placements and supported jobs.
The Equality Academy is a graduate programme for Disabled People that works in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government.
We provide 2 year work placements, with enhanced support for reasonable adjustments and employability skills (such as CV writing and job interviews) throughout.
We are planning what the future of GCIL's employment services should look like. If you are able to answer some questions to help us understand your situation, we can use this to plan our services.
Payroll
GCIL’s payroll team offers a selection of services for our supported people who employ PAs or pay for a care service: a basic payroll service, managed payroll service and bill-paying service. We currently support over 400 people across our services.
Support in the Right Direction (SiRD)
We offer a programme of Self Directed Support awareness workshops and informal drop-in sessions for supported people and carers on an in-house and outreach basis in Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire and South Lanarkshire.
Housing support
Currently, we offer advice and information about the housing system within Glasgow and the options for adaptation or finding a new property. Priority service is given to disabled people ready for hospital discharge and those considered homeless.
Take control
GCIL’s Take Control teams provide the same Support service as our Glasgow office in East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire.
