Partnership working
GCIL works in partnership with the Scottish Independent Living Coalition (SILC) to inform and influence strategic policy and decision makers so that they can take account of disabled people’s lived experience and priorities for change, and work with us.
SILC is a coalition of Scotland’s largest Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) - organisations ‘of’ rather than ‘for’ disabled people.
National SDS Collaboration
GCIL is part of the National SDS Collaboration, we work in partnership with Scottish Government, COSLA, individuals, and independent support and disabled peoples’ organisations from across the social care sector, all of whom have a stake in the successful delivery and implementation of self-directed support.
The aim of the National Collaboration is to ensure that Scottish Government policy around SDS is informed by a wide range of people including those who have lived experience of SDS, or who are involved in delivering it. You can read the Self-Directed Support Improvement Plan 2023-27.
